A gad-fly group of social butterflies gathered together Saturday night to officially ring in the season as Hamptons.com and international real estate firm Engel & Völkers held a "Toast To Summer" soiree in a hidden garden on Main Street in Southampton just before sunset.

Old friends mixed and mingled with new and there was even a little scandal in the form of author Coerte Felske's latest novel "Scandalocity." Felske gladly signed copies of the book for party-goers flanked by his lovely daughter Bodecia Felske and the models who grace his various covers, including Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Irina Shayk and American model and actress Jessica White. The leggy ladies caused quite a stir to say the least in micro-mini cocktail frocks, especially when they donned the authors La Dolce Vita Press tee-shirts. Many wondered about the title and Felske, who has been dating "The Real Housewives of New York City" reality star Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, explained, "Scandalocity is defined as the speed of which scandal measured in velocity can turn you into a star."

Making their way to the libations table with offerings from Lieb Cellars Family Winery and Star Vodka were President and CEO of Rand Luxury Bradford Rand, Executive Director of Guild Hall of East Hampton Ruth Appelhoff, vivacious musician Judy Carmichael, artist Joe Strand, Maria Sarro, realtors Pat and Fred Kohllopp, Katherine and Gary Andreassen, Manus and Estella Gass, Lisa and Brittany Lerner, Michael Wudyka of Enclave Inn and Wainscott Studios, Nancy Lerner, Denise Bornschein, Don Mahoney, and Charles Miller. What's a sip of wine or splash of vodka without a little nibble? The Village Cheese Shop, also from Main Street in Southampton, brought a vast array of specialty cheeses that Charles Ferri, founder and CEO of Star Vodka, along with "The Iceman" Bill Berkoski of Berkoski Ice, Russian Supermodel Eugenia Kuzmina, Raphael Mazzucco, Eleanor Raltim, and Claas Abraham were spotted sampling during the party. Also in the mix was Blake Fulmer from Main Street jewelery shop Tamara Comolli who was generous enough to bedeck me in high style for the evening.

The staff of both Hamptons.com and Engel & Völkers turned out in style for the sunny late afternoon fete including Hamptons.com's Managing Partner Joseph Kazickas, Managing Editor Eileen Casey, the Sales Team of Vanessa Leggard, Michele Steudte, and Lindsay Brown, Senior Arts & Entertainment Reporter Douglas Harrington, and numerous contributors, including Ann Liguori, John A. Viteritti, Rich Ficara, Paul Jablonski with wife Candy, Sean MFK Bruns, Jasmin Rosemberg, Edward Callaghan, John Wegorzewski, and Tony Vargas. Jonathan B. Lerner, Managing Director of Engel & Völkers, welcomed the gathering during the official toast alongside Southampton Office Manager Amadeus Ehrhardt as agents Angela Worts, Kenny Landbau, Cliff Packingham, and many more raised their glasses.

As smiling guests left the party, headed to other events that would last until dawn, they toted a swag bag filled with goodies from not only Hamptons.com and Engel & Völkers, but chocolates from The Village Cheese Shop, gift certificates for spin classes at Soul Cycle, and Serenity Zen Beverage.

Getting Personal: Cancer Knocking At My Door

WRITER'S NOTE: This was first written in October 2007 and after months of worry I was cleared and cancer-free. I republished this essay just prior to my participation in Relay For Life in June 2010.

Over the course of this month I had planned to do a number of features throughout Hamptons.com raising awareness of breast cancer in the Hamptons and across the East End. These features would include stories of survivors, resources for support and treatment, and words of encouragement. Never did I think that I'd be telling my own story. But here I am, scared to death, pondering the past and reticent about the future.

Recently I had begun to notice a bit of tenderness across my chest. For weeks I tossed it aside as stress related or hormonal changes that all women notice from time to time. The pain only got worse unfortunately. After spending the day playing with my two young daughters I decided that avoiding the inevitable would be a disservice to them and something more unforgivable for my husband if my fears came to light.

You see, my mother died at the age of 35 from breast cancer. She was diagnosed with the disease and informed that she was pregnant on virtually the same day. She chose to continue with her pregnancy and begin treatments right after delivery. Shortly after giving birth to a healthy baby boy, my youngest brother Karl, she had a double mastectomy.

Always concerned for the feeling of others around her, she worried how I, her only daughter, would feel about her after her surgery. It was a day I clearly remember, she was applying the dressings to her chest in the bathroom and I asked her if I could help. Only seven years old at the time, I was hardly afraid and not at all disgusted as she had feared. From then on, I would help her and we'd talk, usually about my day at school or other things family related. I helped her find the humor in each day. I didn't realize at the time that she was deflecting the subject, keeping herself focused on the important things in life. For her, that was her family.

After a year of treatment that included chemo and radiation she had a brief remission and then she was lost. We said our final farewells on Christmas Day amidst wrapping paper and new toys. She died two days later.

Over the years my brothers and I participated in numerous support programs at the cancer center where she had been treated. I remember finding that humor was my outlet for the pain and fear I felt. I use humor daily in tense situations, even as I gave birth to my daughters I dryly joked with the doctors to ease my fears and pains. Privately I have never cared about my age, looking forward to celebrating my 36th birthday, some sort of pinnacle moment for me where I will get over the hump of my fears about breast cancer. I have always felt that if I could just hit 36 I'd be fine.

Now at the age of 33, I am at the same place she was - a young-ish mother with two children, a loving husband, and some serious decisions to make.

My journey began when I visited with my physician and we ran some preliminary tests. It is not always a good sign when you hear that you're perfectly healthy but you are still in pain. After a full exam and breast exam the doctor noticed a few irregularities. Perhaps a cyst, perhaps something hormonal, perhaps cancer? I won't know for sure until the coming days, a few weeks maybe, after a full diagnostic bilateral sonogram and mammogram. That all sounds like a line from ER or some other medical drama, not something I typically utter in reference to myself.

I've decided to take you on this journey with me if you care to go. Maybe you are sitting there at home feeling "not quite right" and wondering if you should get checked for something. Maybe you are too afraid to take the first step. Perhaps you feel that you are too young to think that breast cancer might be on your horizon. I can honestly say that I know exactly how you feel.

My next step is a full range of tests at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. We'll see, pardon the pun, what develops after the Radiology Department does their full diagnostic bilateral sonogram and mammogram. It will hardly be a fun hour but will hopefully lead to a few answers. I am just a woman - a mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, and in-law - just like anyone else living on the East End hoping that all of this is "nothing". I can spare the hour, can you?

Anyone watching the 67th Golden Globe Awards couldn't help but notice all of the fabulous frocks making their way down a very wet red carpet. What were the trends that we'll all be following in the next few months, and especially this summer in the Hamptons?

Take The Plunge

Plunging necklines are nothing new in Hollywood. Of recent note, Jennifer Lopez's infamous green chiffon Versace gown proved there are always one or two leading ladies that show just how low they can go. But, with few exceptions, the ladies may have gone a bit too far this year. Fashion expert Leon Hall once told me that when daring to bare it is wise to use the 'pencil test' before you go in front of a camera. Simply put, if you're well blessed with a heaving bosom make sure the girls aren't sagging, it just ends up looking cheap and tacky.

Mariah Carey all but started a stampede when she walked the paparazzi pit with hubby Nick Cannon in tow toting an umbrella and keeping an eye on the Chopard jewels. During her interview with Ryan Seacrest it was all he could do to keep eye contact with the statuesque songstress. Her cups, they well, almost ran over more than once in her skintight Herve Leger bandage dress and she ended up looking a little desperate.

On the flip side, Presenter Halle Berry dazzled the audience when she stepped on stage in a Kaufman Franco silk bias cut gown with lace inserts. The result simply put, very sexy. Also on the mark, Olivia Wilde in liquid metallic Calvin Klein and Carrie Ann Inaba of "Dancing With The Stars" in glittering black and nude.

Pink, red, and wow. Colorful statements by Lauren Graham, Ginnifer Goodwin, Diane Kruger, and Maria Menounos.

Bold And Bright

I love color, especially when it really pops on the red carpet and the stars that gave bold looks a chance were right on target with red, violet, fuchsia, and electric blue. The key to bright colors is to remember a little color on the face or stars, no matter how bright, end up looking tired and washed out. Best bet is a great red lip but beware of being to matchy, matchy - not cute.

From her starring role in "Gilmore Girls" to Steve Carell's wife in "Evan Almighty," and even a stint on Broadway, Lauren Graham of the upcoming "Parenthood" was simply stunning in a hot pink satin ball gown with a mermaid bottom and interesting top. With her dark hair piled high and her blue eyes glittering, she pulled it off. Also in pink and not to be outdone, "Inglourious Basterds" star Diane Kruger wowed the masses with her Christian Lacroix gown. True, many were left wondering about the intricate bodice with all the overdone ruffles but the tight waist and straight skirt saved the day.

Red, always popular at these red carpet fetes, made the rounds on the likes of Amy Pohler of "Parks and Recreation" who played it sleek and straight and TV talking head Maria Menounos who went a little cha cha with a wide skirt.

Electric slide, no, electric blue looked fab on Ginnifer Goodwin of "Big Love" who showed off her gams and pixie-ish hair. Rose McGowan, who usually makes an entrance looked a little prim in blue as she made her way to the Warner Brothers and InStyle after party.

Golden Glamazons! Jillian Michaels, Kelly Kruger, Toni Collette, and Jennifer Garner all glittered.

Sparkle And Shine

Water cooler talk at Hamptons.com this morning was all about the Golden Globes and topic number one was an actress who is fab on screen but usually not on the Best Dressed lists, Aussie actress Toni Collette, who should be renamed Miss Golden Globe after she strutted her very tan stuff down the carpet. Toni won for Best Actress Comedy for her role in "United States of Tara" but she stole the show, at least part of it, in her golden bejeweled gown.

Jennifer Garner was solo in silver while "The Biggest Loser" head trainer Jillian Michaels left her dumbbells at home and donned a golden champagne strapless mini. Kelly Kruger of "Entourage" hit the HBO after party scene in a silver disco dress. Anna Paquin of "True Blood" in gold with cap sleeves was all about the glam but may have gone too far with the front slit on her gown, and the black heels, well, let's just not go there. Wrapping up the glitter was Lake Bell of "It's Complicated," also at the HBO after party, who proved that horizontal stripes can be figure friendly.

Too small, too big, way too many ruffles. Fashion victoms Christina Hendricks, Chloe Sevigny, Rachel Zoe, and January Jones.

Train Wrecks And Sideshows

They can't all be images of perfection, though it was tough to find mistakes on the red carpet with so many stars listening to their stylists. The first mistake of the night was Christina Hendricks of "Mad Men" in an over-ruffled creation by "Project Runway" breakout couturier Christian Siriano. The always fierce Cristian missed his mark this time as Christina was simply too much for this pale peach satin confection. While the waist is beyond fabulous the top is too skimpy for her figure and the ruffles on the front were just too much for the sake of being too much.

Golden Globe winner for Best Actress in a Miniseries, Chloe Sevigny of HBO's "Big Love," was washed out in pale lilac Valentino and overwhelmed by ruffles, and more ruffles. Perhaps the usher who helped her to the stage to accept her award was trying to do her a favor when he stepped on her gown. We'll never know but she did change into a short black party dress before hitting the big HBO after party.

"90210" actress Anna Lynne McCord showed up to the Warner Brothers and InStyle after party in a white Grecian-inspired gown with a very odd bodice detail. Not sure if it was meant to evoke doves, a heart, or grasping hands but no matter how you slice it, it was just plain wrong.

Other notable fashion victims included Ashley Tisdale in a black and white flapper flop, Lindsay Lohan in a hooded silver mini, everybody's favorite Greek actress Nia Vardalos, January Jones of "Mad Men" who was attacked by another stray ruffle on the way to the show, and celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe who looked like she was stuck in the 1920s in a dress 10 times too big for her petite frame.

So many good ideas here but it all went so wrong for Anna Lynne McCord, Ashley Tisdale, Lindsay Lohan, and Nia Vardalos. Sorry ladies, better luck next year!

Beauty Tips From Designer Rachel Roy

Designer Rachel Roy has built a following for not only her beautiful designer and diffusion collections but also her amazing personal style and beauty that can been seen as she sits in the front row during Fashion Week as well as in her own creations on the catwalks. Rachel gave us the scoop on how she expresses her Indian ancestry through her makeup, and as well as her personal tricks to looking bright, fresh, and flawless.

Have you picked up any great beauty tips or tricks that you can share?

Rachel Roy: I feel a great mascara can open the eye and instantly make you look as though you've have a good night's sleep, even when that is not the case. I use two to three coats of Lancome's Fatale on the top, bottom, and also on the back of the top lashes.

Do you have a beauty signature? A fragrance or a lip color that you just love to wear?

RR: Because of my Indian ancestry, I love darkly rimmed eyes - a messy eye adds a sexy yet natural look to a classic outfit. To make the eyes smoky, I use Revlon's Luxurious Color Kohl eyeliner in Black Truffle on the inside of the lids.

What about a lip color that you just love to wear? What do you put on to achieve your favorite look?

RR: Bright lipstick is a way to quickly pop an outfit and freshen up a look a la Ava Gardner in "The Barefoot Contessa." My favorite bright is MAC's Morange lipstick - it's a great way to add a twist to a classic look.

Any last bits of advice?

RR: Another way to make your face pop is to fill in the eyebrows. I use Bobbi Brown's eye shadow in Navajo.

Stepping Out And Stepping Up To Benefit The New York Women's Foundation

On a brisk autumn night in the Big Apple, Gotham Hall, a converted bank, opened its massive brass and glass doors to welcome the members of the New York Women's Foundation for their annual "Stepping Out and Stepping Up" awards dinner to celebrate the lives of hard working women across New York City who serve as "role models of courageous leadership, vision and commitment to women and families as individuals and as partners." The evening was a celebration of the investment this group has made in the community for the past 22 years through over $20 million in grants and educational programs to bolster the dreams of over five million women. The simple idea that if you invest in a woman you invest in the community resonated throughout these marble lined halls.

Cocktail hour was a whirl of networking as elegantly attired Board Members greeted guests and regaled listeners with stories highlighting the achievements of the evening's honorees - Elizabeth and Herbert Sturz and Pulitzer Prize winning couple Sheryl WuDunn and Nicholas D. Kristof. Co-Chairs Hyatt Bass, Sayu V. Bhojwani, Aiyoung Choi, Susan R. Cullman, Grace Hightower De Niro, Somers Farkas, Carolyn Buck Luce, Margaret Munzer Loeb, Jean Shafiroff, Diana L. Taylor, Jacqueline P. Togut, and Barbara Brizzi Wynne worked hard to make the evening a success and their passion for the cause was evident as they made their way into the hall as the program began.

ABC News Correspondent Deborah Roberts hosted the evening and began by introducing Diana L. Taylor, Vice Chair of the organization. Taylor greeted the guests and extolled the virtues of the group, and how together they had made strides in the development of women and communities across NYC. Ana Oliveria, President and CEO, introduced notable guests in the room, including Mayor Mike Bloomberg and Mary J. Blige, then spoke passionately about the future of the organization and the new program for the New York Women's Foundation where it will work in conjunction with the Mexican Embassy, represented by a beaming Ruben Beltran, Counsel General of Mexico.

Amid bites of delicious beet salad and sliced fillet of beef, the honorees sat humbly as the introduction began, starting with Samuel Peabody who brought the lifelong work of honoree Elizabeth Sturz and her Argus Community in the South Bronx to life. Taylor introduced the inspiring Herbert Sturz to the stage where he explained that a life lived searching for justice for all was more than worth the adventure. He is the founding chairman of The After-School Corporation which works to see that all children have access to quality, free after school programs.

Abigail Disney reflected on the work of Pulitizer Prize winning married couple Sheryl WuDunn and Nicholas D. Kristof and their book, "Half The Sky" that opened the worlds' eyes to the terror of human trafficking. In her written notes she remarked, "Thank you for all that you've both done to take us to a whole new level and into another dimension of possibility." While Nicholas delivered his appreciation via pre-recorded video, Sheryl took the stage and challenged the assemblage to look to the heart and act against mistreatment of women across the globe.

Standing ovations followed each of the honorees and the room hushed for Roberts introduction of the evening's performer, none other than the Queen of Hip Hop, Mary J. Blige. A passionate Blige, a victim of abuse herself, performed her chart-topping "No More Drama" from her soul. It was raw and powerful and rocked the room to the core.

Actor Hugh Grant and his brother Jamie Grant hit the streets of Southampton on Saturday night to cheer on their dad, James Grant, who was exhibiting some 80+ watercolor paintings at the Keszler Gallery on Main Street, Southampton. The exhibition benefited the Southampton Fresh Air Home which treats physically disabled children to a vacation at their camp each summer.

Despite a "no photographs" rule, Hugh was cheerful, warm, and friendly to the guests and happily posed to help his father's efforts. You can soon see this lovable leading man opposite the Hamptons (and NYC's) own Sarah Jessica Parker in the upcoming flick, "Did You Hear About The Morgans?" out in December 2009. Every year an article or two (or ten) comes out that attempts to define “Hamptons Style” for men and women. It extolls the virtues of light fabrics, bright colors, and of course wedge shoes for all those garden parties. However at the annual Hampton Classic Horse Shows’ Grand Prix Sunday style watchers saw a parade of colorful frocks, fabulous hats, and wealthy gents and dolls dressed to the nines. It was summer style as it should be – chic, effortlessly unique, and personal.

Hundreds dropped by his fantastic castle, seriously a castle complete with a moat and drawbridge, for a night that, a few guests reported, could have been a scene at the Playboy Mansion. Over the top décor and outrageous costumes made for a night that will long be remembered. I try hundreds of beauty products and love to pass on the scoop of the few great ones that top my list. These have all been tried, tested, and thoroughly put through the beauty wringer not just by me but my team of beauty junkies. If after all these weeks you haven’t gone to Blue Parrot in East Hampton, if not for the delish food and great drinks but for the celebrities, where have you been going? They have A-List owners and investors who like to use the joint as their private lounge each weekend. For example, Oscar winner Renée Zellweger, the restaurant’s rumored investor, hosted a dinner party in celebration of her upcoming film, “My One and Only.” On Renee’s guest list were such names as designer Marc Jacobs with fiancée Lorenzo Martone, designer Tory Burch, polo player and model Nacho Figueras and wife Delfina Blaquier, rockstar Jon Bon Jovi, laughing lady Joy Behar, and reality star Bethenny Frankel. One name absent from the list was Renee's rumored boyfriend Bradley Cooper. Earlier in the week, other diners included heavy hitters Harvey Weinstein, Jeff Gordon, and Alec Baldwin.

PR guru and confidant of the Kardashian clan, Jonathan Cheban, can now also add animal defender to his resume. Jonathan was spotted making a brief escape from The Social Life Art Show this past weekend with Social Life Magazine Editor-in-Chief, Devorah Rose to come to the rescue of an injured dog. The reality TV regulars returned the wounded pup to its owner after an unknown driver hit the animal on the road, leaving it to suffer. Jonathan and Devorah returned to the Social Life Estate after ensuring that the dog was in good hands, and would make a full recovery.

Maggie Wheeler, aka Janice, Chandler’s girlfriend on "Friends," was spotted at Turtle Crossing on Thursday night enjoying the Laughing Pizza performance with friends while enjoying some classic BBQ – ribs, brisket, corn bread and more. The next night Tony Award winning actress Joan Allen (most recently seen in "The Bourne Ultimatum") was spotted sitting at the bar at Turtle Crossing with friends listening to Mama Lee Rose & Friends sipping pellegrino.

Vince Papale, a former NFL player for the Philadelphia Eagles and who the 2006 movie the Invincible was based on, he was played by Mark Wahlberg, was spotted having lunch on Saturday afternoon at Rowdy Hall with kids and a friend.

Fashion’s A-List Takes Over East Hampton

Over the years I’ve gone to some very fabulous parties with plenty of celebrities and business moguls but this past Friday night I was lucky enough to head over to Guild Hall in East Hampton for the opening party for the new “Art of Fashion in the Hamptons” exhibition.

Talk about star power – Calvin Klein, Betsey Johnson, Vera Wang, Elie Tahari, Nicole Miller, Donna Karan, Reed Krakoff of COACH, Tory Burch, and Ralph Lauren were under one roof celebrating fashion and art merging with their vignettes curated by two people who really know their fashion - Pamela Fiori, Editor in Chief of Town & Country magazine, and Stan Herman, artist and former president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Chatting with these designers was a sweet deal for the fashion junkie in me. How often can you put your arm around Calvin Klein and ask about fashion trends or talk inspiration with Donna Karan? The designers, who had worked on the project for some six months in conjunction with the curators and Guild Hall to choose inspiration art, milled about happy to discuss their inspiration and talk fashion.

Betsey Johnson came with a convertible wedding dress and tiara and explained with a giggle that she had been married two and a half times but loves weddings. Nicole Miller explained that for her the exhibit was an homage to her love of the sea and was comprised of blue party dresses on a shimmering blue mirrored floor. Designer Elie Tahari and wife Rory Tahari examined the vignettes holding hands and stroking each other like lovers all night as if they were alone at the museum. As each others’ inspiration they design their line together and each creation is a feast for the eyes. For fall, Elie says that black leggings are an essential.

Donna Karan, who told me that she finds her inspiration working in her late-husband Stephen Weiss’ art studio, embraced the ideal of her Urban Zen Collection and showed off her new “Seven Easy Pieces” that should be in every woman’s wardrobe – pants, skirt, blouse, dress, jacket, jumpsuit, and great accessories. As the evening ended Donna was popping in and out chatting with friends clearly loving the night. She found a pair of sunglasses sitting on one the tables as she was leaving and asked around to find the owner after first looking to see if they were DKNY, they weren’t but mine were and she noticed with a quick, “Love that!,” as I interviewed her.

The exhibition is open to the public at Guild Hall, Main Street in East Hampton, until October.

Sweet Endings: Blueberry Cosmo Is A Seasonal Smash

During the summer it's easy to go for the quick and easy margarita, mojito, or daiquiri but for a sweet, but not too sweet, change try a Blueberry Cosmo at Barristers Restaurant on Main Street in Southampton. This surprisingly refreshing concoction is a mix of Stoli Blueberry Vodka, Triple Sec, and a splash of cranberry and lime juices. Buy it by the glass for dinner or by the pitcher for a party. It's sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Other fun cocktails on the menu include a Reggae Sunsplash (Bacardi Light Rum, Peach Schnapps, and cranberry and pineapple juice), the Strawberry Colada, and a Volcano (Southern Comfort, Vodka, Amaretto, pineapple and orange juice, and a splash of grenadine).

With this delicious Blueberry Cosmo I enjoyed lunch one afternoon with owner Michael Ferran in the outdoor back patio dining room. On a breezy summer day this space is a delight with natural light and side-street people watching. He said that the Memorial Day rush seemed as if, “a cargo ship unloaded at the end of the street." The crowd was a “mix of Europeans" he noted who were enjoying the exchange rate of the Euro and shopping like mad all over town.

We talked about the delicious menu available for lunch and dinner year-round here at Barristers. While Michael loves the BLT, he gives credit to the vegetable melt and calamari as close seconds. One of my favorites, the grilled peach salad will be back when local peaches come back in season at the end of the summer.

What to drink? He prefers wines instead of mixed drinks especially the Le Crema Chardonnay from California. All the wines on the list here are chosen by taste as well as ratings and he likes to keep the prices reasonable. Remember - a wine doesn't need a huge price tag to be good.

Barristers Restaurant is known for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere that keeps people coming back week after week, year after year. Another thing that keeps them coming back are the burgers, made from freshly ground meat from Catena's Market every day, which some say are the best in town. Michael laughs, “I love the burgers when I'm not eating the BLT's."

Seriously folks, if you aren’t hanging out in the Hamptons you must not be looking for celebrities. No need to travel to LA or NYC, they’re here by the beach.

On the party scene, Heather Mills (Paul McCartney's infamous ex-wife) was seen chatting with race car driver Tim George Jr. at the Social Life estate celebrating his magazine cover with publisher Justin Mitchell. Out in Montauk, reality star ("The Apprentice: Martha Stewart" and "The Real Housewives of New York City") turned bestselling author Bethenny Frankel partied at the Montauk Yacht Club promoting her new Skinnygirl Margarita line. Over at the AXE Lounge at Dune in Southampton young and fabulous faces including Brittny Gastineau and the cast of “Beautiful Life” Nico Tortorella, Sarah Paxton, Ben Hollingsworth, and Jordan Woolley partied until dawn.

Just this weekend I heard that Nick & Toni’s was jam packed (as per usual!) with celebs including fashion designers Isaac Mizrahi and Shoshanna Lowenstein, Drew Nieporent, polo player and Ralph Lauren model Nacho Figueras, Rory Tahari, "Shock Jock" Howard Stern and wife Beth Ostrosky-Stern, Nobu’s Richie Notar, music mogul Tommy Mottola and wife Thalia, music diva Mary J. Blige dined with record executive L.A. Reid, Bob Balaban was in with Mort Zuckerman, Anne Heche, Nathan Lane, and Twitter-loving A-List couple Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore popped in during their Hamptons trip prior to the premier of his new flick, "Spread."

Across town, Watergate’s Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward had a BBQ lunch at Townline BBQ with their wives. Wonder what those two wordsmiths were chatting about, oh to be a fly on the wall sometimes. Meanwhile, designer Betsey Johnson dined with her family on Saturday night at Matto.

Other famous faces spotted out and about included Christie Brinkley who brought her famous Cover Girl smile to the 20th Annual Family Day Wild, Wild West Carnival for the Einstein College of Medicine. During the weekly schmmozefest also known as the Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge at Blue Star Jets Field I spotted Alex McCord and Simon Van Kempen as well as Ramona Singer of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” art dealer Vered, and NFL veteran Antonio Garay.

Great Chef’s Dinner = One Delicious Success

What’s there to do on a Sunday night in the Hamptons, well plenty actually, but seriously when it comes to big benefits they’re usually reserved for a jam-packed Saturday night. The clever organizers behind the annual Great Chefs Dinner, namely event founder Lizz Salaway, think outside of the box and know that Saturdays are packed and plan their annual event to benefit Jeff’s Kitchen at the Hayground School for Sunday when social calendars are a bit lighter. Not only is the crowd fabulous but the guest chefs come from both the North Fork and the Hamptons bringing their scrumptious talents with them to share with the guests.

This year Chef Eric Ripert, famous chef/owner of Le Bernardin and guest judge on “Top Chef,” headed the team of chefs creating the special seated dinner with Joseph Realmuto (Nick & Toni’s), Christian Mir (Stone Creek Inn), and Miche Bacher (Sacred Sweets). Together these chefs put together a family style dinner of ceviche, striped bass, Hayground Salad, and tantalizing sweet endings each course paired with wines from Bedell Cellars. Eric explained that his ties to the Hayground School are pretty clear – his children “attend the summer camp and love to spend time in the kitchen and garden.” For the charming Eric, who does not make the social rounds and prefers to spend low-key time with family, being part of this event is “giving back.”

Another famously handsome “Top Chef” was on hand with a delicious bite during the cocktail party, Sam Talbot, as in the Season 2 winner and chef at Surf Lodge in Montauk. Sam brought a crab creation with blueberries, ginger, and crumpled popcorn – different and very tasty – and his sense of humor. He said that this was his “go-to” dish for big parties and that it’s “something that no one else ever does” so it’s become his “signature” cocktail party nosh. With his car, surfboards strapped to the roof of course, waiting and ready for the next destination, Sam told me that married life (to Columbian model wife Paolo Guerrero) was “wonderful” as he flashed his wedding ring. He also beamed when he talked about his restaurant, the Mondrian in SoHo, slated to open in 2010. Can’t wait to set that reservation.

Nearly 200 foodies dropped by for the cocktail party to sample tid-bits created by Kevin Penner (1770 House), Brian Futerman (Foody’s), Cheryl Stair (Art of Eating), Andrew Engle (The Laundry), Tom Schaudel (A Mano), Jason Weiner (Almond), Michael Domitrovich (Montauk Yacht Club), Gerry Hayden (North Fork Table and Inn) , Jesse and Reed Boone (Mark it with a G), Michael Osinski (Widows Hole Oysters), and Michael Cavaniola (Cavaniolas Gourmet). Cocktails came by way of Crop Vodka, Vine Wine + Café, Fire Island Beer, VOSS Water, TeaNY, and Thunder Island Coffee.

One hundred lucky folks staying on for dinner including artist April Gornik and Eric Fischl, Toni Ross, Kelly Killoren Bensimon of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” Southampton Councilwoman Anna Throne-Holst, event planner extraordinaire Jill Gordon, and Brenda Seimer Scheider. Between ticket sales and the evenings silent art auction to event raised well over $60,000.

Ashton And Demi Premier In East Hampton

Twitter fanatic Ashton Kutcher and his equally A-List movie star wife Demi Moore made the Hamptons look like Hollywood East at the premier of his new film, “Spread,” at the UA East Hampton. Together with co-star Anne Heche, the screening, hosted by Hamptons Magazine and Gotham Magazine publisher Jason Binn and Editor in Chief Cristina Cuomo, was attended by celebs Jordan Woolley, Nico Tortorella, Sarah Paxton, Ben Hollingsworth, Sebastian Stan, Leighton Meester, Margarita Levieva, Donna Karen with daughter Gabby. Picture Perfect Polo

The weather was picture perfect on Saturday at the Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge 2009 at Blue Star Jets Field with host sponsor Diamond Teak and between the VIP tent, sponsor tent, and private tailgating tents there was dish galore to report.

Upon my arrival I chatted with racecar driver, and current Social Life magazine cover model, Tim George Jr. The New Yorker, who now resides in Charlotte, NC, grew up splashing around on the Hamptons beaches and now enjoys time off the track with his brother at the Bridgehampton Bath and Tennis Club. Sponsored by Ruby Tuesdays, the smiling racing cutie mingled with the masses looking chic before heading to the Social Life house later that night for his cover party hosted by publisher Justin Mitchell.

In the swank private tailgating tents the ultra-sophisticated Denise Rich was hosting a cocktail smash for friends of her Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research. Denise is full of life and her generosity is overflowing as evidenced when we spoke about our daughters. She explained that the charity is in remembrance of her daughter Gabrielle who sadly passed away at the very young age of 27 from cancer. Together with her two surviving daughters, Ilona Rich Schachter and Daniella Rich Kilstock, she will host the Angel Ball at Cipriani Wall Street in New York on October 20. The evening will honor Tricia and Thomas Quick and include a star-studded musical extravaganza featuring Estelle. When remembering past galas she laughed that relating that she had once literally "chased after Jennifer Hudson wearing her Manolo Blannik’s," stopping at nothing until the singer agreed to be part of her event. Only in the Hamptons for a brief stay, Denis is headed back to St. Tropez in the South of France to cruise around in her yacht, the “Lady Joy,” as she continues to plan for the Angel Ball.

Also seen in the mix watching the ponies on the field were Alex McCord and Simon Van Kempen of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” celebrity blogger Tia Walker, Heather Mills (as in ex-Mrs. Paul McCartney), and scores of pretty model types.

This weekend in the Hamptons is packed with events large and small as always during the summer crush. Here are a few to put on the top of your list:

After you get out of the pool or off the beach the fourth week of the Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge at Blue Star Jets Field, hosted by Diamond Teak furniture, promises to be a great place for celebrity spotting over in the VIP hospitality tent between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. I hear that Denise Rich is expected to drop by and that mean a flotilla of fabulous people with very bold-faced names.

Book lovers can head over to the East Hampton Library on Saturday night starting at 5:30 p.m. to chat up their favorite authors as the 5th Annual Author's Night rolls into town once again. The evening is hosted by Honorary Co-Chairs, Alec Baldwin (A Promise to Ourselves), Candace Bushnell (One Fifth Avenue, Sex and the City), and Jay McInerney (How It Ended; Bright Lights, Big City) and the chance to chat up your favorite author and have a book inscribed are all part of the fun. Over 100 authors are expected including Pulitzer Prize winners Robert A. Caro and Philip Schultz, legendary journalist Barbara Walters, renowned food writer Florence Fabricant, Hayden Planetarium Director and Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, Steven Gaines, Bethenny Frankel, Nelson DeMille, A.M. Homes, Dava Sobel, Lorenzo Carcaterra, Stuart Woods, and many more.

To celebrate the opening of their new movie “Spread,” the very A-List Twitter-fanatic Ashton Kutcher and co-star Anne Heche are expected to attend the Hamptons Magazine bash in their honor over at Lily Pond in East Hampton on Saturday. Montauk Yach Club promises to be a hotbed of drama late Saturday night at the Skinnygirl Margarita line launch party hosted by Bethenny Frankel, celebrity chef, NY Times best-selling author, and famously a co-star of “The Real Housewives of New York City.”

Moving on to Sunday, skip brunch, lunch, and don’t even think about going to dinner before you head over to the annual 2009 Great Chef’s Dinner at the Hayground School.
