One half of the Blues Brothers, Dan Aykroyd, and friends dropped by Tex-Mex eatery Turtle Crossing in East Hampton to promote his new Crystal Head Vodka over the weekend. The eye-catching bottle is shaped like a skull and was designed by artist john Alexander. Ever the good host, Dan mixed up Screwdrivers for the crowd that quickly gathered and happily signed autographs and posed for photos. Dan and Co. were invited to stay for dinner by Chef Arthur Wolf but had to decline. Not to be refused, Chef Wolf invited them for lunch the next day and they gladly accepted the offer. A crew of six returned for full lunch that included the famous grilled corn, quesadillas, brisket, and more.
Yes, it’s the Hamptons and yes, that usually means dignified fare but celebrities like Southern-styled cooking. For example, director Steven Spielberg and his kids were seen inhaling ribs and chicken at Turtle Crossing during the week while the Blue Parrot kept a revolving list of celebs well fed and cocktailed. Size-0 ‘stylist to the stars’ Rachel Zoe dropped by Blue Parrot as did cute couple David Lauren and Lauren Bush. Always a man for a party, Donnie Deutsch brought friends by Blue Parrot for a dinner party as model/reality star Kelly Killoren Bensimon enjoyed a nosh.
Grocery shopping is such a chore sometimes but if you shop at Citarella you might spot a few famous faces. Recently Katie Lee Joel (soon to be Ex-Mrs. Billy Joel) and award-winning actor Alan Alda were pushing carts around while movie star Owen Wilson picked up a “To Go” order.
And finally over at the celeb cafeteria, Nick & Toni’s of East Hampton, plenty of paparazzi-stalked friends dropped in for a bite including author Jay McInerney and wife Anne Hearst McInerney, leading man Alec Baldwin had a quiet dinner with girlfriend Nicole Seidel, songstress Amy Irving and family, restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow and wife Linda, and iconic Lou Reed and wife Laurie.
