Fabulous Cuisine And Fun Atmosphere At Starr Boggs

Starr Boggs Restaurant, Westhampton, NY

Often imitated, never duplicated, and completely scrumptious - that about sums up the bustling food haven in Westhampton Beach known simply as Starr Boggs.

On a recent Saturday night trip to Westhampton Beach a friend and I were ready to have dinner so we dropped by a spot on Main Street that had plenty of open reservations, and let me tell you – the service was horrid, the cocktails were watered down, and the menu was sadly lacking – it was no wonder why they were so empty on a busy Hamptons weekend. In need of a Plan B we tried again to snag a table at Starr Boggs, where we had called earlier and sadly discovered they were filled, unexpectedly we were told that they had room at the bar so we rushed right over. The valet who parked the car set the tone – friendly, professional, and eager to please. The hostess suggested that we nab a bar table with a good view of the comings and goings near the door, we did and people watched over dinner and cocktails.

When you go to a restaurant you should feel welcomed and at ease, we were instantly right at home and ordered a few fun cocktails as we perused the extensive menu. There is truly something for everyone at Starr Boggs. Chicken, seafood, steaks, and chops all with perfect seasonal sides. To start I enjoyed a Butter Lettuce Salad with candied pecans, blue cheese, and tart green apples lightly tossed with a creamy dressing. My dear friend enjoyed the much acclaimed Crab Cake – fresh chunks of crab and perfectly seasoned. Each bite was a delight for the senses.

On to the main courses we couldn’t pass up the Flat Iron Steak, a favorite of all the staff, and the Almond Crusted Flounder. The steak was utterly succulent and the accompanying gratin potatoes and asparagus were full of flavor. The flounder was flaky and moist while the sweet potato puree added a hint of sweetness. My favorite part of every meal is the sweet ending and we were not disappointed as we sampled Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Mousse and Mango Puree and the Profiteroles with Espresso Ice Cream. Throughout our meal we were joined by servers, hosts, and other staff member to check on our every need. Event Starr himself made the rounds to check on his well-pampered guests.

Here’s a tip: When you go to a restaurant for the first time ask your waiter what he and the other servers prefer from the menu. It most likely is not on the specials list and that’s fine, go for something known to be delicious. It’s your money and in these economic times spend it wisely on a proven winner.

Starr Boggs is located at 6 Parlato Drive, Westhampton, New York, 631-288-3500.
